FAM-Dispenser
The FAM-Dispenser was developed by the Swiss Bee Research Centre Agroscope Liebefeld-Posieux (at that time FAM Liebefeld).
It is proved for the application of acid formic to control the Varroa mite and is distinguished for its simple handling and its efficacy.
Application
The Dispenser is opened for the filling and the acid formic has to be poured on the sponge. After closing the dispenser, adjust the openings of the dispenser according to the detailed user instruction. Then the dispenser is placed on top of the brood frames the openings facing downwards. Wear protective glasses, intact rubber gloves and long-sleeved clothes.
Timing/Dosage
Two treatments with formic acid 70% - in August after the last honey harvest during 1 week - 130 ml
- in September after finishing feeding during 2-3 weeks - 130 ml

Concept of control
A combined application of the FAM-Dispenser with an oxalic acid treatment in broodless colonies (November - December) shows best results.
